It’s how we interact with our community, at a local and global level. Most of us have a passion for a cause. Community Engagement aims to connect you to your passion
You do not need a particular skill and will not be asked to make ongoing commitments. Many of our opportunities can include teenagers and even younger children.

Movie night at Snipes
In late 2022, fifth-graders at Snipes Elementary School were able to see Sing 2, many of them going to a movie in a theater for the first time. The generosity of WUMC members made this possible. Here is some feedback we received:
"I was fortunate to have the opportunity to accompany Snipes students and staff on the PBIS rewards field trip to The Pointe 14 Cinemas to see Sing 2. One of the best parts of the whole trip was watching the excitement of the students as they filed into the lobby. I saw lots of wide eyes and huge smiles as they entered and heard excited whispers as they collected their drinks and popcorn.
"It was obvious that this was the first visit to this or any theater for many of the students and that it was a very special treat to those who had been only once or twice before. It was also exciting to hear them singing along with songs that they have listened to at home or on the radio and knew by heart. That sound was pure joy!
"Students participating in a field trip that allows them to have new and enriching experiences is very special for them and anyone fortunate enough to help facilitate it.

Other examples of appreciation for what the church provides to Snipes:
1- The ISCS team would love to thank WUMC for all they do! Not only does it give our students with Autism an opportunity to show off and practice their social skills - they get to do it in a sensory friendly setting!
2- The experience creates a lasting impression as demonstrated with this kindergarten student:
"Yesterday in Ms. Sansing’s class we were doing a discussion on what each student preferred:
chips or popcorn. Logan said he liked popcorn because it meant he got to go to the movies with his classmates and teachers. It was the most fun he’d had."
