The music ministry at Wrightsville UMC is varied and open to everyone. We offer a variety of styles in worship throughout the church year, ranging from the traditional handbell and chancel choir to the contemporary sounds of our Youth Praise Band. On any given Sunday you may hear an Aria from Handel’s Messiah, a jazz saxophone arrangement of a traditional hymn, or anything in between. Our first two Sunday services feature singer and guitarist, Kelly Jewell, lending his authentic voice to meaningful arrangements of familiar hymn and spirituals. As well as featuring Kelly, our third service often features one of our choirs, either adult or children. Besides special Sunday music during the Advent and Christmas and Lenten and Easter seasons, we present an annual children’s musical as well as a Jazz Nativity using many church and community wide musicians. We also have frequent guest musicians in worship and concert. Listed below are the various choirs, a brief description of each of them and their scheduled meeting times. If you have further questions regarding them of any aspect of our music program, don’t hesitate to contact Julia at Email Julia.

CHANCEL CHOIR
This choir is open to anyone 15 years or older who enjoys singing and would like to participate in traditional worship music on a regular basis. We rehearse on selected Wednesday evenings from 7:15 – 8:30 in the sanctuary. We follow a seasonal schedule, that is, we rehearse for generally six weeks, then sing in worship, either all three services or the 11:15 service, followed by a few weeks off. This style of rehearsal is more conducive to folks who would rather to make a short term commitment, rather than a year-long commitment. It is not necessary to participate in every season if it does not fit into your schedule. Interested in being part of this wonderful small group and Music Ministry? Email Julia
